General Job Search and Resume Posting Links

America's Employers: Net-Temps is an employment portal targeted specifically to the contract and temporary employment markets. Net-Temps boasts a cross posting distribution of over 500 Internet search engines, portals, directories, on-line services and newsgroups as classified employment ads. These include Excite, Yahoo, Alta Vista, and Lycos. The Net-Temps resume bank includes hundreds of thousands of resumes. Job seekers can post resumes and search for jobs at no cost. Also provides a relocation resource that allows you to learn about and compare communities.

America's Job Bank : The America's Job Bank (AJB) network is operated by the Department of Labor.  It is the national clearinghouse for the public employment service. You can search more than 100,000 job listings using occupation, keyword, or military code.  You can also post your resume at no charge.

Army & Air Force Exchange System: Among the nation's largest retailers, AAFES employs over 50,000 associates, and offers management opportunities, as well as entry-level positions at many locations worldwide.

Business Week On Line Career Center: Provides access to a searchable job listing database and the use of a job search agent that will notify you by email when a job listing matching your criteria is located.

BestJobsUSA.com offers an extensive listing of jobs, searchable by function, state and keywords. Candidates can also post resumes online. In addition there is an online education center that provides extensive information on "hot spots" to work, entry-level salary surveys and interesting links to the best places to live in the U.S.

Career.com: Job seekers can search a data base of job postings; create / update and save their resumes in the private resume database and participate in “CyberFairs.”

CareerBuilder: Provides a search engine that the site claims can scan 40 career sites over 1,000,000 jobs. Will notify you by mail of jobs. Provides career advice and access to career advisors.  You can post your resume for employers to review.

CareerMart: A general job search web site with searchable job listings database and resume posting service.

Careerjournal.com: Operated by the Wall Street Journal, this web site provides a searchable job listings database, job search agent, and a superb set of job search and relocation related information resources.  This is a somewhat high-level web site geared to professionals with experience.

CareerWeb.com: a cost free site that offers thousands of job listings in hundreds of areas with both large and small companies. You can put your resume online for employers to see and even fill out a "Job Agent" search agent to Email the new jobs straight to you.

Corporate Gray Online: A Career Transition Site For Military Personnel.  You can search for job listings or post your resume for free.  Also provides job search information as well as relocation information.

Career City: This site allows you to conduct free searches of job listings stored on other popular job search sites including many of those listed here.  Also allows free posting of your resume and provides information on thousands of companies.

Career Magazine: General job search web site with free access to a searchable database of jobs and the ability to post your resume.  Site has a job search agent that will notify you of new listings matching your criteria.  Site also has an archive of job search related articles.

The Destiny Group: Employment site matches military personnel with worldwide civilian corporations.

Direct Employers Search Engine: provides a direct connection to the employer's career site, making the employer web site the primary recruiting tool, thus allowing jobseekers to apply directly through each employer's unique application process.

DoD Job Search Link: Part of the America’s Job Bank Network.  Provides access to a searchable database of more than 1,000,000 jobs.  You can search by occupation, keyword, or military occupational code.  You can also post your resume.  All services are free.

RecruitMilitary.com:A job site that targets veterans and service members making the transition to the civilian workforce with access to free services, tools and references.

MilitaryHire.com: A no cost site serving the military community with a large selection of job opportunities, tools, resume posting and guidance.

Naval Exchange Service: The Navy Exchange System consists of 113 retail store locations worldwide, the Navy Lodge Program, Navy Uniform Program, and Ship Stores.

The Monster Board / On-Line Career Center :  A general job search web site.  Services include the ability to search a database of almost 400,000 job listings by location, occupational category, or keyword.  A job search agent is available to search on a continuing basis and email you with matches. 

NationJob:  A general job search web site that allows you to search a job listings database and to use a job search agent to keep you posted on new listings.

Thingamajob: is a free online employment tool employment resource that offers a family of comprehensive multi-field opportunities and on-cost resume posting possibilities.

Transition Assistance On-Line: Transition Assistance Online (TAO) is a targeted employment web site that provides free services to specific job seekers (separating military Service members, retirees, veterans, spouses and dependents, DoD employees, etc.).  Services include job listings, resume posting, as well as information on military related job fairs.

1-800-Drivers.com: Designed for those seeking work as a truck driver.  This site allows you to view job listings, submit job applications, compare salaries/benefits, and research companies.  Site also promotes toll-free telephone access to many of the same job search resources.

Black Collegian: A web site designed to assist the career search of black college students and others of color.  Provides a searchable job listings database and resume posting service.

ClearanceJobs.com: A secure internet job
board specifically for job seekers with active security clearances and the hiring
companies looking to fill sensitive positions.

Computer Jobs, Technical Employment in the US and Canada: Job search site for computer professionals that allows you to search job listings and post your resume. 

Career Development: Specializes in placement of junior military officers.  Provides hot job listings as well as no charge headhunter services to qualified junior officers.

Cool Works: This site lists thousands of jobs (paid and volunteer, seasonal and full-time) at national and state parks, ski resorts, summer camps, dude ranches, and on cruise ships.  Many jobs are seasonal.

CWA TAP Center: This is a cooperative web site created by the Department of Labor and the Communications Workers of America.  The site is designed to assist transitioning and former military personnel in applying and locating jobs in the Communications and Information Technology career fields.  The site provides placement assistance for qualified personnel and assistance in securing training for those who do not have the required training.

Diversity Careers in Engineering and Information Technology: Published by Diversity/Careers Magazine.  This site is oriented on those with technical skills and provides job listings from firms dedicated to enhancing the diversity of their workforce.

Diversity Employment: Multicultural web resource that provides job listings and a resume posting service.

Educational Placement Service: Provides job listings for those interested in teaching positions.  Applicants should have permanent or provisional teaching certificate.

Engineer-Cad.Com: a Job Board for Careers in Engineering, Drafting, Architecture and Construction Management

FAA Federal Air Marshal: New DOT/FAA career opportunities as Civil Aviation Security Specialist (Federal Air Marshal). Site provides vacancy announcement and includes job description and qualification requirements as well as compensation and application information.

Fedscope: Office of Personnel Management Sponsored site that provides very detailed information about federal jobs. While this site does not provide actual job listings, it will help you research such issues as salary levels by occupation and where large numbers of federal jobs are geographically located.

FedWorld:  FedWorld US Government Federal Job Search Homepage lists federal job opportunities by location.  You can search by keyword to find jobs of interest.

Helmets to Hardhats: works with the top construction contractors and unions in the nation to give Service Members free assistance and access to the best opportunities in the construction industry.

Hispanic Online: Web site designed for Latinos.  Site provides job listings as well as information on employers actively seeking to hire Latinos.

Jobs4truckers.com:  Web site is designed for those seeking work in the trucking industry.  Job search is available for those with a Commercial Driving License.  For others, site features a “CDL Prep Test” as well as information on the test and preparatory materials.

JROTC-U.S. Army: Offers teaching/leadership positions in selected private and public high schools throughout the United States, its territories and abroad in the DoD school system.

JROTC-U.S. Air Force: Retired officer and enlisted positions at more than 650 high schools across the nation and overseas.

JROTC-U.S. Marines: Over 209 schools offer the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Program helping develop informed responsible young citizens.

JROTC-U.S. Navy: Retired Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard officers and enlisted personnel serve in the program's 490 units.

LawEnforcementJob : Links to thousands of public safety agencies around the world and sources of information for those seeking work in the police, corrections, firefighting, college and university police, and other security fields. The moderated message board offers more information about employment and law enforcement skills and practice

Lucas Careers.com: Offers transitioning military officers no-cost services such as relocation tools, resume and interviewing tips, interactivity between recruiters and candidates and hiring conferences throughout the country.

Medzilla:  Job search web site for individuals in the Biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals, Science, Medicine and Healthcare fields.  Site allows you to post resumes and review job listings as well as providing access to job search related articles.

Military.Com: This web site is designed for military personnel. It contains a wealth of interesting information as well as job search specific features such as a military skills translator, business interests quiz, industry exploration tool, guide to headhunters, and thousands of job listings submitted by firms who want to hire military transitioners.

Military Recruiting Institute: A 20 year old placement firm that specializes in placing Junior Officers transitioning from the military into corporate careers.

Military Sealift Command: Employing more than 8,000 people, both military and civilian it has many different career opportunities both ashore and afloat. As part of its work force, MSC employs more than 3,400 civil service mariners, federal government employees who crew and sail MSC's Naval Fleet Auxiliary Force and special missions ships--all non-combatant ships.

National Diversity Newspaper Job Bank: Site is designed specifically to help minorities find new jobs in the newspaper industry. Site provides searchable job listings but you must first post a resume in order to gain a userid and password.

NAVAIR: an agency of the U.S. Navy that hires civilian professionals to assist the Navy in conducting aviation research as well as developing and testing aircraft and aircraft weapon systems.

Naval Sea Systems Command: The largest of the Navy's five systems commands, it engineers, builds and supports America's Fleet of ships and combat systems. They manage over 130 acquisition programs and employ 50,000 people

Officer.com:  Provides links to several job listings sites specializing in the law enforcement field.

Orion International: Orion is a job placement firm that specializes in the placement of transitioning military personnel. Both junior officers and individuals seeking placement into technical corporate careers are supported.

Pharmaceutical career site: offers the net's largest pharmacy specific job board, as well as a no cost pharmacy web portal and recruiter services.

TECHEXPO: brings professionals holding security clearances together with hiring managers from defense companies and government agencies.

Transportation Security Administration (TSA): Under the Aviation Security Act provides positions in the nation's transportation systems for management and security.

Troops to Teachers: Troops to Teachers provides Referral Assistance and Placement services to service members and civilian employees of Department of Defense who are interested in beginning a second career in public education as teacher or teacher's aides. Actual job listings are available along with information on entering or reentering the education field.  The DANTES Troops to Teachers office will help in "linking" applicants with teacher certification programs and employment opportunities.

USA Jobs (Federal Jobs): Government web site providing a searchable database of federal jobs as well as information on how to apply for a federal job.  Also contains information on Veterans’ preferences in federal hiring.

The Veterans Corporation: A tool for Service Disabled Veteran-owned and all other Veteran-owned businesses, as well as for those currently enlisted or already out of the service who are thinking of starting a business. The Veterans Business Newsletter is their new electronic monthly newsletter, keeping veterans up-to-date on new services, key developments in addition to other important information in small business and Veteran news.

VetJobs: a free website providing employment assistance to all service members, DoD civilians, retirees and their families.

Research Resources

America’s Career InfoNet: Not a job search web site.  Instead, this Department of Labor site lets you explore salaries by occupation and state.  This is an invaluable tool for those attempting to set a job objective and explore the marketplace.  Web site also provides information on the demand for workers by occupation.

Big Book: This is an on line version of the Yellow Pages for the whole country.  Specify the state and the business name and you will get the phone number and address.  The site will also print a map and give driving directions.  This is a great way of preparing for an interview or checking out a potential commute.

FirstGov.gov: Is the official website for searching the U.S. Government. The website offers 30 million pages of Federal Government information, services and online transactions via powerful search engines. There is information available from a comprehensive list of subject areas that touch all aspects of American society, government and culture. Transitioners will find useful links about jobs, relocation, self-employment, and much more. FirstGov provides cross-agency portals giving access to government at all levels.

Hoover’s Online: A great place to research public and private companies.

MediaLinks:  This web site provides links to many US newspapers organized by state.  Most newspaper web sites allow you to view classified ads for jobs and real estate/apartments.  This is a great way to search local job opportunities and lodging costs for a community of interest.

Monstermoving.com: A great place to research and compare different cities.  You can compare cities on a number of criteria including taxes, costs of homes, cost of living, unemployment, etc.

NewsDirectory.com:  This web site gives you access to a large number of US newspapers.  Most newspaper web sites contain classified ads for jobs and housing.  What a great site to start your research into local job opportunities and relocation information.

Occupational Outlook Handbook: The Occupational Outlook Handbook is a nationally recognized source of career information, designed to provide valuable assistance to individuals making decisions about their future work lives.  Revised every two years, the Handbook describes what workers do on the job, working conditions, the training and education needed, earnings, and expected job prospects in a wide range of occupations.

The Riley Guide: A very unique Internet resource.  This site does not provide job listings or allow you to post resumes.  What it does do is provide a very comprehensive listing of Internet resources including annotated links to the following type of web sites: job lead sources & resume databases; salary surveys; research careers, employers, & other options; help with your search, your resume, the internet, and more.

Use Your Military Experience and Training (UMET) website is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor's Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS) to make it easier for current and former military personnel to obtain the licenses and certifications that may be required to work in the civilian work force.
